Global Translator
This one looks like the most popular, except has people complaining that the flags don’t work.

Indoeuropean Translator Widget
This one looks like it has potential

Google Ajax Translation
This one is cool but only translates the comments for now, or at least,
since March. Things might change though, they said it was because
Google has a 500 character limit at the moment.

Scandinavian Translator
This one only supports Swedish, English, Danish and Norwegian

Why Translate your Blog?

Well the obvious answer is to help your non-English speaking
visitors to read your blog, however unless you pay for better software,
it’s probably not going to translate it very well.

The good news is that the majority of net users, even those in
non-English speaking countries can speak/read English, it’s just the
way it is.

The unobvious is that the search engines pickup way more content from your site
when it has more than one language, and it reaches in further country
searches, and you will also come up in the results of keyword-searches
that people might do in a foreign language on the secret.

A great site that I spotted today is SproutBuilder.com – You can build a great quick online mini site, about me page, including multimedia, etc
Sprout is the quick and easy way for anyone to build, publish, and
manage widgets, mini-sites, mashups, banners and more. Any size, any
number of pages. Include video, audio, images and newsfeeds and choose
from dozens of pre-built components and web services. The site looks
really professional and I’m pretty sure that anyone even those without
any technical ability will be able to create a great website with it.

Alternatively, just use Brian’s free software at his page, or the
1stpage (below) to modify your squeeze pages enough to get it online to
begin with.

If you are interested in what I use, I use a combination of Drupal, Frontpage, WordPress and XSitePro.

I’m an absolute newbie at Drupal and it is quite difficult to learn,
but it’s perfect for this website, as in, frontpage and xsitepro is no
good for these kinds of “membership sites”.

But they are good for affiliate sites.

So if you intend on making your own membership site like mine, you might also want to look into Drupal (http://drupal.org), it does my head in though, I’m constantly strained at wanting to basic things lol.. my head hurts :)

Actually, thinking about it… WordPress will probably fill the needs of everything you want to do, and it’s free :)

And Frontpage is a Microsoft product.

There are so many good web software out there, and most can do
everything you’ll need it to do. I only use Frontpage because I learnt
it first and am the most familiar with it. It’s not as fantastic as
some of the ones you can buy thesedays.

And I use XSitePro because it’s really easy to build lots of pages
that are SEO optimized really quickly and has in-built features to save
you doing a lot of the manual crap :)

Aweber is minimum $19 a month and I hate paying
monthly, so I have been looking for a great autoresponder which has all
the features, easy to use, where “I” host it instead of a 3rd party
website, fast, and NO MONTHLY FEES!

I was looking at both free and paid versions.
I don’t mind paying if it’s a great product and only a Once-Off fee,
but I was hoping that I could stumble upon a great free one that noone
was advertising because it was free lol..

I personally would rather host my own mail rather than have aweber in charge of everything. I’m a control freak. :)

I reviewed every autoresponder that I could find, trying to find the best. I looked at & demo’d:
- GetResponse
- Aweber
- EmailMarketingAssistant
- ListPro
- AutoresponsePlus
- InfiniteAutoresponder
- AutoresponderUnlimited
- And every single one of the autoresponders listed on the PHP scripting websites

It was a crappy, frustrating, couple of weeks :(

And after all my reviewing, I’m still unhappy with everything I
found :( One day I’ll get someone to design a good autoresponder, I
can’t believe how crap they all are.

In the meantime, I’m using AutoresponderUnlimited, which I’ve uploaded to the Autoresponder Tools page if you want to try it.

It’s not great.. but it’ll get the job done until someone creates a
great one ;) And since I paid for it and have master resell rights, I
can give it to you for free.

Pointless if you don’t yet have your own domain though…
if you don’t have a domain, you might want to stick with aweber because
it’s hosted with them, but I’m sure there are some free hosts elsewhere
that you don’t have to pay the monthly fees for.. please share with the
group just in case there are others who also can’t afford to get their
own domain yet.

has some templates for autoresponders that you can borrow and modify. I
also highly recommend setting up a free gmail account and signing up to
everyone else’s autoresponders to get ideas on how they are promoting.
As well as, make sure you actually sign up to the free 5 lessons on
your website as there may be some text in there that you can use too.

What to Write in your Autoresponder

Your autoresponder and followup content is meant to educate your prospects as well as build a relationship with them.
Remember that it often takes several exposures to a product before a sale is made. When writing, use “YOU” more than “I”.
Your followup content is designed to foster this relationship by demonstrating your knowledge and credibility.

How to Generate your Autoresponder fast without hurting your brain too much!:

• Step A: Print out all of the content about SGR that you can find online.
• Step B: Pick out the best features and benefits of the content.
• Step C: Re-write content in your own words.
• Step D: Use problem/solution formula of pre-selling… what is their problem? why is SGR the solution?

Now that you’ve done your domain searches… (don’t panic if you are still looking, it’s hard to get a good domain these days!)

… it’s time to register your domain!

It took me a few days to find mine, because I stuffed around with keyword searches and different name combinations until I finally signed up with that expired domains company to do the search for me `cos everything I tried was “already taken”

*weep!*

I used Bluehost.com to register my domains, primarily because that’s where I host my domains and it was convenient. I host a lot of domains and sites with them and have been really happy with my experience with them. They are $10 each to register at Bluehost and your first domain with them is free if you signup to them for hosting as well.

Other places you might like to try:
Australians http://www.crazydomains.com.au/ ($12 AUD)

A lot of people use GoDaddy: Pfft GoDaddy! I find it one of hardest sites on the planet to navigate, trying to change any of your settings, transfer it to another host, even try and find things on the site.. meh! It is confusing.. ugh.. enough of my whinging ;) if nothing else, GoDaddy is super cheap.. and have a special on right now where you can get domains for like $2.. tempting isnt it.. but I still think they are crap :)

If you really can’t afford to get your own domain name, at least get a site setup at http://pages.google.com/ and your blogs (which you’ll learn about tomorrow) but it will be a lot harder to get people to go to your website without a domain.

I use BlueHost and am moving all of my domains over to them.

I’ve never been happier, and I don’t think I’d ever move away from them. I pay $6.95 per month, which is paid up-front. I wish I could recommend others to be less biased, but I really like them and I can’t think of any others to recommend :\

Plus if you need me to help you with anything, I’m more familiar with Bluehost. (ie, setting up redirects, affiliate links, blogs, email, etc)

Redirect your Domain to your Affiliate URL

Once you have your domain registered and a webhost, redirect your domain to your SGR Affiliate ID.

If you went with Bluehost.. login to cpanel.
Scroll down to “Domains”
Click on “Redirects”
Type in your affiliate URL (without the http://) in the box,
choose “Permanent” not “Temporary”

And you’re done.

When you go to www.yourdomain.com, you should now see your SGR Affiliate site.

For example:

You get my SGR affiliate site.

Note: Your site will show the full affiliate url ie: http://thesgrprogram.com/?a_aid=b7efd724 when someone goes to www.yourdomain.com I’ll explain how to get rid of that on day 4.

Redirecting it to the ugly “?affiliate” url will at least get you going if you happen to be “talking or typing” about it with someone, or adding your website url somewhere, email sig’s, etc.

There’s no argument.. you need your own domain name!

First thing I did when I joined is do an expired-domains search to try and find a good domain name.

There are plenty of sites online, but most that I found were crap, including the one that I ended up going with.

I paid for one month at http://www.expireddomains.com/ ($34.95)
But I don’t recommend them, they get the job done, but the site is terribly slow and sometimes down.

Thousands of domains expire everyday taking their traffic, their search engine rakings and their links with them. Whether the owner forgot to renew, closed their business or just lost interest in the site this valuable source of instant traffic is being wasted.

You might even get lucky enough to find an expired domain that already has good pagerank with google, or that already has a yahoo directory listing, or has a high alexa rating, etc!

I went into the expireddomains site and searched for any site that included “The Secret” in them.

I registered 4 of them, but these ones that were still available ((bare in mind, that they may already be taken by now, domains get claimed so quickly) – As of End of May 2008.

There used to be an awesome website (it’s gone now, I just checked) called Fallen Domains where you could search by keyword and the results included traffic information such as Google, Yahoo, Looksmart, dmoz and inktomi rankings. If you find one of these in your travels, be sure to let the group know!

A free software program that runs from your desktop which is not as fancy as the paid ones, but still has some tricks up it’s sleeve is called: eepire Expired Domain Finder

You can download it free from their homepage:

You can use it to generate the keywords that you want it to monitor.. then it automatically generates thousands of combinations of those keywords .. and then sorts them by: High Profile / Mid Profile / Low Profile and Registered.

This tool should allow you to find and register domains quickly and easily than doing a manual one.. I wish I had’ve remembered it earlier! :)

Other than the expired domain search, you can head over to: http://www.nameboy.com for some great domain ideas.

Everyone loves nameboy, it’s a great free resource for generating cool domain names. You can use it for the search but if you buy it from them, it will cost you more, just use it for great domain ideas when you can’t think of any!

I’ll talk more about hosting tomorrow.. today you should just focus on trying to land a great domain name or 2!

Don’t limit yourself to just “The Secret”, you can try variations of the Law of Attraction, Science of Getting Rich, etc.. acronyms of each..etc, or something unique.

Tips to remember:

• The Jury is out on “hyphens”, ie: the-secret-is-out.com, but I own 40+ domains, and those without hyphens get more traffic.. just my 2 cents! Plus, how do you tell someone over the phone about the hyphens.. ugh!
• Try to get a .com name if possible (or your country domain, ie: or .com.au) rather than a .net .biz .us .info .name, etc.
• Don’t make it too long.
• Don’t make it too “generic” (I’ve made this mistake too many times! Try and keep it focused on your SGR biz and something that your intended audience would be curious enough to click on!)
• Use http://www.thesaurus.com and do thesaurus searches.

I installed WordPress at my sites, which you can do very easily @ bluehost (see Setup Blog (Bluehost) below), but you can get a free wordpress or blogger.com account and set it up without a domain (definitely recommended that you get a blog, even if you don’t get a domain).

• You want it to be “clean” and “easy to read”.
• Delete all the test posts/comments (wordpress)
• Get familiar with your blog.
• Post your SGR Affiliate link or domain to the LINKS.

Blogging is great for so many reasons, but most importantly, blogs can drive traffic to your site, get you ranked higher in search engines, be seen as an expert, has RSS capabilities (which you can submit to RSS Sites which I’ll talk about in another email), and is more “personal” than a website.

• Blogs can boost your search engine ranking
• Blogs offer multiple ways to deliver your message. If you’re not the best writer, you can start an audio or video blog and can therefore still reach your customers in a personal way.
• Blogs help you expand your reach online. By pinging search engines and using RSS feeds you can syndicate your content online, boost your reach and influence, and allow customers to control their communications with your company.
• Blogs are much more personal than a corporate website and because they are regularly updated, customers can remain informed about your business and feel more connected to you.

Setup Blog (Bluehost)

To setup WordPress in Bluehost:

1. Login to your cpanel.
2. Scroll down to “Software/Services” -> “Fantastico De Luxe”
3. Blogs -> “WordPress” -> New Installation
4. Install in directory: blog
   Admin Access Data: any username
   Password: any password

   Base configuration
   Admin nickname: Your Full Name or “Administrator”
   Admin email: Your email
   Site Name: YourDomain.com
   Description: Will show up in search engines, so a brief description about SGR will do to start with (you can modify it later)

   Email account configuration
   This is not important, it’s used if you want to “email” your blog from your normal email account.. but you can set it up if you want to do that.

5. Click on “Install WordPress” -> “Finish Installation”
   It will then tell you the URL of the ADMIN area for your blog.
   yourdomain.com/blog/wp-admin/
6. Click on the link, login, then Add it to your Bookmarks or
   Favourites so that you can easily update your blog at least 3x a
   week :)
